Eighty percent of properties auctioned for taxes in Fulton County were in longtime Black neighborhoods according to a WABE investigation. Fulton is unique in that it outsources delinquent tax collection to investors, giving them significant control over the auction process. Analyzing tax records and other public documents, this story looked at the disproportionate impact of tax policies on Black families in the area.
